Topics covered include: the importance of choice of behaviour, self-awareness, relationships, and making and refusing requests. Underpinning this course is the message that assertive behaviour is based upon respect for others, not as a manipulation tool.

This course was developed for managers and supervisors. Delivered over a half day session, once a week for four weeks, this will cover everything in Assertiveness Training 1, but in more depth, with the addition of a psychological exploration of reasons for loss of assertiveness – conditioning, family position etc. There will be a strong emphasis on self-awareness and self-esteem and practical tips on how to deal with difficult people and tricky situations. Trainees will be given reflective homework each week, which will remain confidential to them.
