Course Outline


This workshop will introduce the principles of food safety, hydration and nutrition, including the signs of hydration and malnourishment. Attendees will explore how to support individuals to have access to fluids and food and nutrition safely and in accordance with their plan of care.

On completion delegates will be able to:


  • State the basic principles of food safety
  • Explain the importance of good hydration and nutrition
  • Support individuals to have access to fluids in accordance with their plan of care
  • Encourage individuals to eat in accordance with their plan of care
  • Report any concerns to the relevant person
