Make a difference and get paid—co-deliver Oliver McGowan Training to help change attitudes and improve understanding of autism and learning disability in health and social care.

What is Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training?

  • Developed to make sure staff get the right training to support autistic people and people with a learning disability.
  • Named in memory of Oliver McGowan, whose tragic death highlighted the urgent need for greater understanding and awareness.
  • Now mandated by the Oliver McGowan Draft Code of Practice for all CQC-registered health and care staff to have training that fits their role.

What you’ll do:

  • Use your personal experience to change the future of care services by delivering training alongside our facilitating trainer and a peer co-trainer.
  • Help and support others by helping professionals understand your lived experience.
  • Build your confidence, meet new people and bring real-life impact to your training sessions.
Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training

Who can apply?

  • We will help and support you every step of the way with mentoring and enabling reasonable adjustments for you to deliver training.
  • You’ll attend a 3-day co‑trainer training course tailored to your lived experience
  • After you’ve done your training, you’ll be paid for your time - £20.00 per online training session and £15.00 (per hour) for any meetings
  • If you need additional support, your support worker can help you during the training.
