Course Outline

Through open discussion, real-life examples and interactive activities, this course – led by our facilitating trainer alongside two co-trainers (our Experts with Lived Experience) – encourages learners to explore the importance of reasonable adjustments, inclusive communication, and the role of family carers when supporting autistic people, and people with a learning disability. Designed as a safe, respectful, and collaborative space, this session builds on the knowledge already gained by participating in the Tier 1 Part 1 eLearning.

Before attending the Tier 1 Part 2 webinar, you must have completed the Tier 1 Part 1 eLearning found on The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism page of the elearning for healthcare website.

Please note: during the webinar learners will hear from our Experts with Lived Experience, where they answer questions about their experience as an autistic person, and a person with a learning disability. These stories are very personal and can often be sensitive.

To make sure our Experts with Lived Experience feel supported to share these experiences with the group, during part 2 of this training we will ask learners to turn on their cameras – this is mandatory, and certificates may not be issued if cameras are not enabled when asked.
