Course Outline
This workshop will explore how an individual may feel if they have mental health conditions, dementia or learning disabilities and how these conditions influence an individual’s needs in relation to their care. Attendees will learn about a variety of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, psychosis, dementia and learning difficulties and why maintaining a positive attitude can make a difference.
The workshop will consider the main legislations and policies designed to underpin the needs of individuals including the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 2007, Valuing People White Paper 2001, Equality Act 2010 and Human Rights Act, 1998.
On completion delegates will be able to:
Have an understanding of the needs and experiences of individuals with mental health conditions, dementia or learning disabilities
Describe the importance of promoting positive health and well-being for individuals with mental health conditions, dementia or learning disabilities
Understand the adjustments that may be necessary in care delivery relating to an individual who may have a mental health condition, dementia or learning disability
