Diabetes affects millions of people across the UK and is one of the most common long-term health conditions encountered in health and social care settings. This qualification provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of diabetes, including the different types of the condition, how diabetes is diagnosed, monitored and treated, and the support individuals may need to manage their health and wellbeing.

Great news! LDSS funding has returned for 2026/27, including the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes!
Suitable for those working in health and social care, the course explores the prevention of Type 2 diabetes, the importance of lifestyle choices, person-centred support, blood glucose monitoring and the ongoing management of the condition. Learners will develop the knowledge and confidence needed to support individuals living with diabetes, helping them to maintain their independence, improve their health outcomes and achieve the best possible quality of life.
This qualification can support progression within health and social care roles and provides valuable underpinning knowledge for anyone supporting people living with diabetes.

Study Skills Workshop
Many of us may not have studied for a qualification for many years, and the thought of doing a qualification can, understandably, be daunting. Our FREE course demystifies academic language by explaining the meaning of different "command verbs", reassures about the wide variety of assessment methods we use, so writing reams is not required (unless you enjoy writing!) and describes what can be used as "prior learning", so you don't have to repeat recent work.
We discuss the use of AI in your qualification, and answer any concerns you may have - no matter how trivial they seem. This course is available as a video, to watch when it suits you, or as a workshop where you can engage with others and realise that you aren't alone!

Flexible learning
We understand that balancing work, family and study can be challenging, particularly for busy health and social care professionals. That’s why our diabetes qualifications are designed to fit around your existing commitments, allowing you to learn at a pace that works for you.

Flexible Assessment
We recognise that every learner is different. Some people prefer to learn through reading and writing, while others find it easier to talk through their knowledge and experiences. That’s why we use a range of assessment methods, tailored to the individual learner wherever possible.
Our assessors work with learners to identify the most appropriate ways to demonstrate their understanding of diabetes and the support needs of individuals living with the condition. By using methods such as professional discussions, reflective accounts and work-based evidence, we help learners showcase their knowledge and competence in a way that builds confidence and supports success.
Quality matters! We have a caring team of assessors who will aim to mark your work within 48 hours and return it to you with supportive feedback and your next steps.

What Our Clients Say Testimonials

I submitted my first 2 claims through the LDSS last week and found the process much smoother than I initially thought it would be. Once I was told the qualification number (which is required), the rest of the process was very easy to follow. I uploaded both a copy of the invoice, and the receipt and both claims were accepted first time round. I was informed they were accepted on the same day as submission so a very quick turnaround.Mel Macaulay

Our experience with the new Learning & Development Support Scheme has been really positive. We have found the new system to be very straight forward, easy to use and have already received the 60% funding for each submitted application. The new service also enables providers to more easily obtain funding for qualifications to support their employee's progression, learning and development.Joseph Taylor
