Course Outline

Our Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam course covers the fundamentals of epilepsy, including the definition and classification of seizures and imparts the knowledge and skills required to correctly prepare and administer buccal Midazolam – a crucial medication for seizure control. Led by our experienced trainer, participants will explore the anatomy of the brain and its relationship to seizure activity. Emphasis will be placed on first aid procedures for tonic-clonic seizures, highlighting the importance of patient safety and care. 

By the end of the course, participants will be confident in recognising seizure types, implementing appropriate first aid measures, and administering emergency medication, meaning participants will leave this course empowered to provide essential care and support to those experiencing seizures.

  • Define the terms epilepsy and seizure
  • Discuss seizure classification and brain anatomy
  • Explain the first aid procedures to be followed for a tonic-clonic seizure
