Course Outline

Everyone should have equal access to high quality care and support, regardless of their background, culture or lifestyle.

This is the fourth of the Care Certificate standards. This Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) course explores just that: the diversity, equality, inclusion and discrimination and highlights how practice can deliberately or inadvertently discriminate and exclude others.

Learn how legislation including the Equality Act 2010, Human Rights Act 1998 and Skills for Care Code of Practice applies to the role of the social care professional. Using legislation and best practice as a framework, explore your own beliefs and increase awareness of the dangers of stereotyping and prejudice. This includes an introduction to the LGBTQ+ Framework developed by Skills for Care.

Explore how to work in an inclusive way and how to how to challenge discrimination effectively. Learn how to access further information, advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion.
